Can You See Me Now?
Documentary photographer and filmmaker Brunel Johnson has released the first of a four part series entitled ‘Can You See Me Now?’. This collection of short films and stills provides an empowering and thought-provoking platform for Black and Minority Ethnic groups to express their struggles, feelings and experiences using multimedia, with episode one focussing on the obstacles and experiences of being a Young Black Man in Britain.
Written by Ashley Belal Chin and shot in black and white, “Young Black Man” gives viewers an insight into the lives of multiple Black men as they experience life through different circumstances. Faces change but stories interlink, exposing multiple injustices within a racialised context reflective of systemic attitudes towards people of colour.
